Several years ago I heard the Olympian swimmer Summer Sanders being interviewed on a talk show. (I think it was Oprah, but I'm not sure.) Anyway, this subject came up believe it or not.
She said that if you shave in the direction of hair growth (with the grain, so to speak), then you will cut down on skin irritation. I had the same problems, so I tried it, and it works. The only thing is that you don't get as close a shave as you would shaving against the direction of hair growth, so you kind of have to take some time to do it every day until you get to the level of smoothness you want. It's a pain, but less uncomfortable than those red bumps.
Also, I switched to the Schick Intuition razor, which has the lather built into the blade. I've had problems with using soap, lotion, and shaving gel/cream and breakouts. When I switched to this, then all problems completely went away. There's a sensitive skin version, which I highly recommend.
Good luck!

Try waxing it's usually less irritating to the skin. Don't apply lotions after shaving it clogs the hair follicles and will cause ingrown hairs "pimples". Also try using a shaving GEL and not soap it will provide more lubrication while shaving. Make sure you wash the area well before and after you shave to help keep the area free of irritants.

If you have been shaving for as long as you can remember did it ever occur to you that you should use this thing i don't know if you've heard about this crazy thing called shaving cream. The shaving cream give you a soft clean shave and leaves your skin smooth and soft. Most importantly razor bumps/pimpleless. Good luck.

Hi Maddie,
It sounds like your getting burn't or causing a rash and this your body's way of triying to tell you it does not like it.
You need to try something different. Try waxing if you can. Being that I'm a guy I don't know if you could do that down there because of senitivity. But something else you can look into is something like NEAR it was common during the 80's. Or have you tried Layer Hair Removal?
I hope this is of some help
Sincerely,
Buster

The redness is caused by the razor irritating the skin. Try using a different razor and shaving lotuion.
The pimples are caused by either localised infection or ingrown hairs. try using a rubbing alcohol solution (Isocol) before shaving.

Sometimes you need to look into what kind of shaver you are using. Those Bic shavers with one rasor blade can be bad for the kind of problem you explained.
The expensive rasor are the good one for your kind of sensitive skin. I know its costing but sometimes worth the struggle for your health and safety.
Perhaps there are other method of shaving to save the problem you are facing. Perhaps wax, or try the lasor method of removing hair. Might help.
Cheers
