I live in Wisconsin and in the winter I have problems with water in my garage. It is a detatched 2 1/2 car garage. The floor wasn't "poured" correctly and there isn't any slope to allow water to run out. I have problems with the snow melting off the undercarriages of our cars and then large pools of water building up. I squeege the garage, but I am worried that the water could cause damage. Should I seal the floor or paint it?

Their are two solutions , One is to pour a new floor, or a cap on the existing floor. Two is to cut a 6 inch wide run in the floor and install a drain to the outside, and repour the 6 inch run . the drain is as simple as renting a floor cutter, slug hammer and a drain, 4" pvc workes well this is a weekend project so save it until spring in wisconsin. I done this it really isnot as hard as it sounds, let me know how it turns out or any questions.

Paint will only chip and bubble up with ground moisture. Seal it to protect the surface. Unless you are willing to cut a sump area in the lowest part of the floor, you are stuck with the squeegee.

Once you start the coating process, it is hard to stop.
Maybe a French drain? Drill/auger a hole, put in some gravel and top it with a grate? It kinda depends on the drainage in your area and the water table.

Sealing it would definitely be a good decision. You may be able to get some one to cut in a trough too.
