that's a personal choice. i have a 6 week old. and i know how much she changes every day. i would not be willing to leave her for a week. maybe when she is older. i have a hard time letter her go over night (though she did once). but it's up to you and what you are comfortable with.

That's an awfully little baby to leave. You could miss out on so many things during that week, since babies that young change so much, and experience new things every day. You'd also be missing out on some good bonding time. I also agree with the earlier post about missing your baby and not being able to get back.
I guess it's a personal choice. Weigh out the pros and cons, and maybe ask the baby's father if the cruise could wait a while.

I don't see why a week away would be a bad thing. Why does everyone say "no" when it is probably the last vacation you're going to get for sometime. The older they get, the less time you have so I say go as long as you are 100% comfortable leaving your child with the grandparents. For myself, I left my son for 1 week when he was 3 months with my parents and I felt totally comfortable b/c I knew my mom could handle him. You will definitely miss him/her like crazy, but that makes the coming home even more sweet!

How do the grandparents feel about the responsibility they would be taking. If you go on the cruise be sure and leave written permission (notarized) for the grandparents to seek medical care for the baby if needed.

if you can handle being away, it's totally ok. I found it very hard to leave mine for a night out when she was four months old (I cried on the bus on the way to the movies), so I can't imagine how you'll cope, but good luck, and enjoy your week off!
It will be harder on you than the baby, anyway...

if the grandparents are ok with it, and you and your partner feel you will be ok to leave him/her for a week, then it should be fine. if you bottle feed, leave them with the formula they need or if you breast feed express milk for him/her. as you dont state when you are leaving, expressing may be a little late if you are leaving soon, as it takes a while to get enough milk expressed. though giving a breast fed baby some formula wont hurt him/her.
think of all the celebrities who leave their babies/children with nannies day and night for alot longer then a week. or the babies wh oare put into daycare from afew weeks old every day of the week becuase the mother returns to work. i think if you and the grandparents are fine with it, it should be fine.

What if you find yourself missing her terribly, but you're stranded on a cruise ship and desperate to get back to her, but you can't? I would advise against leaving her so young.

I certainly wouldn't if it were me. Do you know how much a baby that young changes on a DAILY basis?
