Reading, warm milk, hot bath, getting up and watching TV, doing chores until you get tired.
You cannot force yourself to go to sleep. When I do this, I keep looking at the clock and thinking, "If get to sleep now, I'll get five hours sleep. (Next half hour) If I get to sleep NOW, I'll get 41/2 hours sleep." This continues until I fall asleep 1 hour before I am scheduled to wake up.

Sure Jordon, There's Chamomile Tea, Nighty Time Tea, warm milk, Valerian Root, "Health Food Store" and all of these are Natural, which you seem like the kind of person that would go for that sort, so I won't and would rather not get into something that could be addicting.
Hope I've helped in your quest for a good night sleep?

You need time to relax and unwind before going to sleep. Everyone does. Try reading, having a cup of warm milk(Don't drink anything with caffeine in it as this may keep you awake longer) or decaffeinated tea. Nice long soak in a bubble bath or hot tub will do it too.

I listen to music to help me fall asleep, most stereos have a sleep setting so the device will turn off automatically after a certain length of time...

when your lying down "waiting" to fall asleep count from 1-4 over and over, eventually it gets so boring, you'll just doze off, or another is hitmitize yourself. Start at your feet, say (in your head) okay you feel those feet down there, where gonna put them to sleep, let them sink into relaxation, than when they're asleep (they should feel "heavy") move up the body, when your whole body is "heavy" concetrate on your breathing, by this time, by shutting down your body, you are so relaxed that you will drop off. Those are what works for me.
