I was born in the UK and now live in Brunei - this is not a permanent situation - we still have a house in Scotland which we return to twice a year. I really like living in Brunei, the travel opportunities are amazing - in the two years I've been here, I've been to Beijing, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Perth, Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore - if we were still in the UK, there is no way we would have been able to do this. However, the main reason for being here is money - nobody pays tax here. We will remain here for another 18 months while our house in the UK is being renovated, and pay off a large chunk of our mortgage while we can. I know many expats who will never return to the UK, but I'm not one of them. I love my home, and being near to my family and friends - I am Scottish, and want to live in Scotland!

I was born in the UK and live in Australia. My parents migrated here when I was 5 months old so I didn't really have a choice. I have been to the UK on plenty of holidays to visit and no offence but I am sooo-ooo glad my parents brought me here! I find it very dirty over there. I love Australia and if I didn't have family in the UK I would never go there again.
Sorry, don't take it personally, just my opinion and I have nothing at all against English people!!
