your i-pod should have come with an instruction manual. Find that and then follow the instructions on how to reset your ipod. That worked for me when mine stopped working.

If the ipod is under 1-year old you can take it to any apple store for free repair or replacement (they're technicians are typically some of the best and most effecient I've run across in ANY service industry) however if it's older than that, you might be screwed. While apple prides themselves in quality products, there service department is definatly NOT cheap. If you bought the unit at a Best Buy or similar electronics retailer, and it's over a year old I would reccomend taking it back to the retailer.........you might save some money over an apple store. If the problem's with the harddrive though it's usually not fixable :-(.

try resetting it. think you hold down play and the center button or something to do it... don't remember but the apple website has a great help section on common problems

try holding the "menu" and center buttons down at the same time for a few seconds. that should work, but if it doesnt you might need a new battery or something.

switch the 'hold' switch on then off again....
hold centre and menu buttons untill the apple logo comes up...
try charging it from electric first then put on pc g/uck
