Hey, I have a 98' chevy blazer LT. it was my fathers but i have recentyl aquired it. Jus for info purposes, it is a vortec v6 4.3 liter. 190hp@4400 (stock that is)(o an its automatic also). now i jus went out to a empty street and timed my 0-60 time, i clocked it at 9 seconds. Is that a bad time? I realize that its an older SUV, and i was jus wondering how it compares to some of the newer type cars. And what are (if any) cheap any non-major things i can do to my car to improve it time. thanks.

#1. If it's a two wheeler put a lower neumerical rearend ring and pinion in it. Chevrolet had many choices in 98. To determine what set you have copy the VIN and go to uour Chevy parts room. They'll furnish you with some amazing stats as well as the rear end ratio. #2. put a computer chip in it. #3. a set of headers with a free flowing exhaust and huge core mufflers. Dynomax Turbo Mufflers are a straight through inner tube with small slices inside to deepen the tune it will make. If you do not drop below 4.00 rear gears you can still knock out 25 mpg. on trips.

Just means that my 96 Grand Cherokee is still going to beat your truck. Just kidding. That engine is doing great at a 9 second quarter mile. You could install a K&N air filter which will increase your horsepower, install a catback exhaust system which will make the truck growl and run even better as its less restrictive to the motor.

that's pretty good for a heavy suv. those 4.3 engines are bulletproof, so keep running it hard.
