i mean all the wanky introductions/prologue that are absolutely useless and leave you numbingly bored and none the wiser.....
also page after page of irrelevant publishing drivel..that could just as easily be put at the back.

all i want is one page of titles with isbn and publishing details on the reverse side and then...lets cut to the chase...straight to...

..page 1 of the book.

it seems that these publishers want to produce books for themselves and not for book readers!

same way as film companies want to put a lot of advertising sputum...just in front of the film.....whose the damn film for?..the advertisers or the film watchers.

i am exagerating for effect...but you do see my point, no?

I see your point but you could just skip past the introduction, you dont HAVE to read it.

What is there to be fed up about?

If you don't like it, skip it. If you don't like trailers, don't go in to watch the film until ten minutes after the showing time - or close your eyes. Advertising is a fact of life - just because you pay for a newspaper or magazine doesn't mean your free of adverts because most big businesses like so need to subsidize their costs.

The fact is the prologue and introductions can have a lot of background information and put the rest of the novel into context.

well if its boring then you can skip it, but sometimes introductions and prologues set the tone for the rest of the book. They may put the rest of the story in context, or tell us important things about the characters or plot, so sometimes its a good idea to read them!

It seems to me that your just bored. And you say so in your question. You don't know how hard it is to start off a book. The author might have the perfect idea, but how do they start it? They don't want to lose readers right at the beginning. Trust me, I write for fun and it is very hard. You would have to explain what is going on to the reader.

Kind of - sometimes if its an authors book that im interested in i like reading the stuff that they write. But i do agree most of the stuff is crap like page after page of what magazine and newspaper groups like about it. which you know are only there cos they get there name in print and free advertising.

I only read the prologue if it is a Stephen King novel. His are pretty good. Anyone else, I just skip it.
To answer your question, no, it doesn't really bother me.
