All PS3's are region free!! That means you can play and region game on any PS3. You can check out the PS3 forum at sony.com for more info..

All PS3s are region free for games so a U.S. PS3 will play UK games. However, why not just wait for a UK PS3, they're coming soon. And besides, the only good games for the PS3 now are Resistance and Virtua Fighter so theres no rush to get a U.S. console.

The U.S version of PS3 can play UK/US/JAP PS3 games as its region free. ps2 games are region locked (region 1 u.s)
Dvd wise it can only play Region 1 dvds (U.s and Asian dvds)
Blu ray discs it can use U.s version disks (region 1)
Playstation network/shop you choose which country you what to be set to...European shop go's live on 23rd march.
No need for stepdown convertor either for us or jap machine as its universl power supply so just plug a kettle power cord or 13amp pc cord in and will work fine.

I think the games are regioned, to one region, but if I were you, wait a little while, believe me, its coming out soon in the UK
I believe it's coming out march 23rd, just wait

if you have an adapter, then yes i should. english/usa consoles are generally compatible. but i must ask why you spent $600 on the ps3 in the first place
