If you don't feel uncomfortable {i.e. you can't feel the tampon inside of you}, then it's been correctly inserted. As a rule of thumb, if you usually wore long or overnight pads you'll need a greater absorbency tampon {like plus or super plus}; personally, I like Tampax Pearl tampons. Don't forget to change your tampon every 4 to 6 hours, even if it's not leaking. Leaving it in for more time can lead to bacterial overgrowth which can result in a vaginal infection, or even a more serious condition called toxic shock syndrome {although this is rare nowadays if you practice good hygiene- washing your hands before and after every tampon change, and changing them at regular intervals not to exceed 6 hours}.

Tampons come in many different sizes and flows for a good reason. You're not doing anything wrong, it's just you need a higher size. Try super, and if you still are leaking, try super plus. Or you can just put a panty liner in your underware to catch the leaking. But don't worry, I'm sure you're not doing anything wrong, you just have a heavier flow than the tampon could handle. I buy the tampax mix pack (that has lite, regular and super) because my flow varies throughout my cycle. It's just trial and error. Remember you can always use a pantyliner as backup. Good luck!

you likely are doing it right.
I prefere the playtex sport regular ones.
I've only leaked with tampax.
You should try the next level up of protection.
What I suggest you do is wear a pad or panty liner until you know your flow better that way you don't ruin underwear. I had to do that.
Rememeber to change the tampon every time you go to the washroom. If not it's suggested to change it every 4 hours even though the box will say 8, it's better to change it every 4.
Hope this helps!
Also I found OB silk ease were really absorbent but they don't have an applicator.

Maybe you need a more absorbent tampon (regular, super, super plus). Also, if you were bleeding before you put it in... then there would still be some that might leak out. Try using a pantyliner aswell.
Personally, I prefer Tampax tampons... just the regular ones. I find that they are the most absorbent. But, they do have a cardboard applicator, so they're not quite as easy to put in as the plastic applicators.

Take that great heavy pass tampon and dip it in a cup of water! It gets very enormous, and thats what it does while it starts soaking up the blood, gets larger. in case you prefer to srart utilising tampons at this age (and that i did so its no longer enormous deal) i could use kotex, thats what i've got used when you consider that 9th grade. The playtex ones are very long and so which you will sense them plenty extra, i think of. The kotex tampons are shorter, yet thicker and that they nonetheless artwork, much extra suited than playtex i think of, they are extra basic to insert too. nonetheless positioned on a panty liner bc in spite of tampons you will nonetheless leak and could replace them each and every couple of hours besides. stable success. i be responsive to it form of feels annoying and prefer a huge deal now, yet do no longer trouble approximately it. each and every lady has questions while they commence and once you're acquaintances laughed at then you are they actually your friends?

At different days of our periods the flow is heavier. Mine is always day two out of my 3 days periods. So day 2 I have to super absorbency. You probably just need a different absorbency for this day.
