The Black community does have leadership. It isn't in the form of Malcom and Martin because the times and needs are different. I would say Cornel West, Henry Louis Gates, Julian Bond, to name a few are working very hard to effect racism. The real question is what are you doing? Great leaders don't create social movements. The society (community) does that. The leaders rise up through the ranks of those movements. -- (not to brag but I heard that from Julian Bond just the other day).
It is your duty to fight racism where you see it. Don't let it stay hidden pull it into the light. Also don't think about Blacks as the U.S. alone. There are many Malcom X , Martin Luther King type leaders in Africa and the Carribean. Ngugi wa' Thiong'o and Wole Soyinka bemoan the fact that Africa Americans tend to only connect with africa and other diaspora (dispersed) africans around "a religion of skin color".
They are often struggling with neocolonial type racism. Where western nations, such as ours, place and keep corrupt leaders in power for strategic or economic reasons. Often when you hear about famines in African nations they are man made tragedies meant to drive the price of some product up or down.
The true fight against racism is global. A black person who wants to fight racism must be willing to realisticlly assess Africa, because it is corrupt African leaders backed up by Western powers which is leading to the death of so many Black people on the continent.
When there is a black face on the leadership people are less likely to call it racism. And a lot of Black people won't like to hear this but right now Bill and Melinda Gates are doing more to combat racism globally than most anyone else. They understand the social and economic dimesions of racism. And that in the end it will hurt us all. Diverse views makes us more, not less innovative. Racism keeps huge segements of the worlds population from being productive.

Because they're too lazy, i'm not talking about American Americans, i'm talking about everyone in the wolrd, even me. I'm not that lazy but i'm willing to try to "step up to the plate" and change things around my city. You can too make a huge difference in ur city, u dont know how many predjuice people there are living in your city right now. You can make a difference and i'm willing to sacrifice some things to change around here. Good luck to ya :)
You ask this question but your the one who should be changing things.
