Because I know that people think that is it impossible that partricles came together in the perfect combination to create earth, but then its also hard to believe that there is this being out there who got bored one day and decided to play around with planets. I do believe that Jesus existed, but as a man, a mere man who went out to help people, much like the charity workers of today. As for the bible, I believe that the stories in it were fables told to children to make them behave, or just as entertainment, exaggerated as time went on.
Anyway, I guess that really doesn't answer the question, I am an atheist because I just do not see ho it can be feasible for there to be a God, a being as I said who just sits there and watches. If suffering stopped maybe I would reassess my viws but as long as there are rapes, murders, paedophiles, wars, famine, drounght and other disasters, i can't see how thre is this 'big guy' watching over us

I kept asking more and more questions about religion that my pastor either refused to, or couldn't answer. Eventually they had a sit down with me to tell me how my questioning was wrong, and I shouldn't do it because questioning Gods ways was a sign that satan was trying to win me over. I believed them for a while, until I got older and refused to believe that blind faith was the only way a person could find God. Nowadays I envy those people who can be happy blindly believing the christian religion, because It is no longer possible for me to do so. The world is a lot bleaker when you realize the truth of it, and I was much happier when all I had to do was say "God works in mysterious ways". Oh well, I'll just keep on keepin' on. I am a person who must always ask "why", and nothing less of a straight answer will make me happy.

I am an atheist because I don't believe in god. I do not see any sense in having somebody else tell me how to live my life. I do not seek spiritual fulfillment. I really don't see the sense in dressing up once a week just to worship somebody that no sane person is sure exists.

I don't see any concrete evidence that there is a God, so I don't believe in one. I am a radical Atheist (see: Douglas Adams) - Not only do I not believe in God, I am absolutely convinced that there isn't one.

Because I believe and have hope and fear of the Lord. I know that there is cause he has my son and someday I will see him again for eternity.
