My research topic for English 10 is Communism. I have some historical information and background info about what communism is, but I need more sources that talk about how Communism affects the world today. I did some google searches and didn't find anything that helps me.

For most of us, Hungarians Communism affect our lives in a way that past usually does. We turned our backs to communism, everything that's labelled 'communist' is bad, but many people who lived better in the seventies demand their free education, free healthcare, cheap medicine, cheap theatre and cinema tickets, cheap meat and bread. These things were cheap indeed, but cost a lot for the country. The state paid the difference between the real price and the one we had to pay at the checkout. Prices are 20 times bigger now than they were in the 1980s and salaries did not increase that much. But there were a lot less goods than we have now. Shops were often empty (until the late seventies) You had to buy the piece that was available even if it was not of your taste or needs. Now we have everything if we have the money.
Those who are against privatisation forget how bad an owner the state was. Buildings, offices, hospitals were dirty, run-down and neglected. Now you can see building sites, renovations, new houses everywhere.
Many of us were raised up in a strong anti-capitalistic propaganda, but it was so strong and so fake that it backfired and we started to admire the West for their way of life. Now we got it and a lot of ppl are not happy with what they got, especially those who did not listen when they were taught about the economy of capitalism. Many ppl still expect the state to grant things that Western ppl have always had to earn (see above). But of course there are things that should be kept for the benefit of the future generations, e.g. maternity leave.
So how does it affect our lives now? with the memory of it (of the things we want to avoid to happen again) and with the things we did not learn or were made to forget: how to deal with money, the value and risks of free enterprise, the must of assertivity and independence. This is what we're learning now, more or less successfully. Things are changing at the speed of light, sometimes I feel and it's often difficult to catch up with them. But one thing is for sure: nobody wants to try communism again.

see if there's a communist party in your area, I know I get flyers every now and then. Interview them and see why they're the communist party.
