Well there is an outside edge but on the other side there is nothing to stop it from expanding. The theory is that space and time do not exist without matter. So you can't cross over because space will expand ahead of you.

I presume you are talking about a universe that continually collapses on itself and then restarts a new universe. This is only onee out of a million theories about what could happen.
THe only way to prove this would be to watch the end of the universe.... impossible unless you like reading fiction.
YOur question could also be asking that the edge of the universe is somewhere and the is another universe next to it... this unfortuantly is not possible. The universe governs all things.... so anything next to the universe would also be the universe.

Absolutely! Look down. You are standing (or sitting) on an island in space.
Beyond this universe (the result of one big bang), may or may not be similar space(s), also the result of a big bang. These spaces may overlap. That overlap would cause things to spin.

I think the theory most accepted is that the universe does have an ending, but it is constantly expanding so you could never really get to it. And eventually it will expand to the point that all matter will be torn apart. Comforting, huh?
