How can I start off an essay on ancient greece customs and traditions with this quote?

The gods, likening themselves to all kinds of strangers, go in various disguises from city to city, observing the wrongdoing and the righteousness of men.

This is my thesis statement.

Thesis: Ancient Greece had many formal customs and traditions, which included the customs of host and guest, traditions of the burial and the dead, the ceremonies used to honour the gods, and the superstitions of omens.

Please help!

And if anyone can find a better quote from The Odyssey by Homer, that woudl support my thesis, it would be much appreciated.

The gods, likening themselves to all kinds of strangers, go in various disguises from city to city, observing the wrongdoing and the righteousness of men.
