Again, let me quote Jesus from the Beatitudes:

"Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth."

"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."

"Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

"But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also."

HOW DO YOU CALL YOURSELF A CHRISTIAN, BUT DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT JESUS ADVOCATES???

Come on Cons, you need to "man up" and face the implications of this. Why are you all so afraid to respond to this question?

FYI:

Jesus had nothing to do with the Old Testament. Jesus, in fact, represents a major shift toward love, tolerance, forgiveness, & redemption.

Because Jesus stands for many things that conservatives oppose.

As a Christian, I resent the notion that Jesus must be CONFRONTED. And I resent people who are not Christians demanding an account of my personal Spiritual belief system.

But the biggest thing I resent, is that when I answer your question, you will simply ignore what I tell you and go on and ask this question again. Nevertheless:

Jesus WAS an Old Testament Jew. Prove otherwise. And Jesus gave that sermon on the Mount for the sake of His own children, and it was NOT an admonishment to government. Jesus was not about an earthly government, He was about a heavenly kingdom.

And, elsewhere in the New Testament, Christians are told to be subject to the "higher powers," meaning government.

And our government is run by our US Constitution, which has as its FIRST Amendment freedom of religion and freedom of speech.

If you are going to shove my Christianity down my throat in POLITICS, you should first read the Constitution.

EDIT: And we are also taught not to "cast our pearls before swine," and that may be why it appears so many are reluctant to discuss their religious beliefs around here. I've been trained in the fine art of pearl-throwing, and Lamp, thanks.

Conservatives are not affraid to confront Jesus. Many Christians do however act against the teachings of Jesus and still claim to be Christians. Many, on all sides of the political spectrum, even call their fighting as being in God's name. The truth is that God has nothing to do with it. War is a human concept. God doesn't start or stop it.

"Why are the Cons here so afraid of confronting Jesus?"

I went to a musical when I was about 15 yrs old called, "Show me Jesus", and the basis was, "How do we represent Christ in our day to day lives?"

I've seen little or nothing in Republican thought, as expressed here, that mirrors the Character, Witness, Teachings and Person of Christ.

Show me where it says in the bible that Jesus approves of gay marriage or of women MURDERING their unborn babies. Never did I think I would see liberals stoop as low as to try and say that they now speak for Jesus too.

Neo-cons are inherently evil and must prove themselves to themselves on an hourly basis. Those who are truly strong, need not prove it to every passerby. Strength void of wisdom, is evil indeed.
