The usual bacteria that get into the urinary tract are e. coli. Do you know where they come from? Use medicated wipes after going number two to prevent the e. coli from spreading.

Sometimes it's called "Honeymoon Cystits". Before having sex, be sure to empty your bladder, and then again after.
Be sure to drink lots of water.
After a bowel movement, ( I know it's akward..) but be sure to wipe your rear NOT towards your vagina, but away and toward the butt crack. Stay away from soaps and perfumes and powders down there. Use Dreft laundry detergent for babies and sensetive skin. And don't take baths, take showers.
But the most important is the urinating and wiping.
Cranberry juice will only help the bacteria to not stick to the lining of the bladder during the time you are on meds, but it would NEVER cure an infection.

Some of this is very common knowledge, but make sure you follow some simple rules. ALWAYS urinate before and after intercourse, always wipe front to back, make sure your partner has CLEAN hands before touching you, drink lots of water, stay away from a lot of caffeine (tea, soda, coffee),. Once you get rid of the infection, drink cranberry juice. If this continues, you may need to see a urologist (specializes in kidney/bladder problems). Hope this helps

You should see a doctor as you could have a kidney infection.

Also I know people who tend to drink lots of coffee and/or drinks that contain lots of caffeine (soda) tend to have lots of UTI's as well. Drink plenty of cranberry juice. Also make sure that you are urinating frequently..if you are holding it in often, that can cause a UTI as well.

Have you tried pure Cranberry juice. It is usually only sold in co-ops and health food stores. It is unsweetened and you can mix it w/diet sprite or NutraSweet & water and do not get all of the sugar that is in the other "Cranberry" juices which are 12-15% Cranberry juice. It really works.

I'm a nurse. Your doctor should give you a preventative medication to prevent these recurrent symptoms, ask him/her. Take care. This is medication for a long term use to keep the UTI's from returning.
