Monterrey North, Norcal is night and day different from Socal climate wise, geographicaly, culturally etc... example the bay area is more like the puget sound area than LA. I have also noticed that this time of year San Fran and Seattle have almost identical climates.

Northern California is considered part of the Northwest to those living North of Sacramento inland (Redding, Weed, Yreaka etc) and North of Santa Rosa (ukiah, Eureka) along the coast. The Bay Area (SF) may share some Seattle tendencies but is just a bit too far south and just a bit too liberal and less sophisticated to really fall into the NW category.
