Hey, I just got a cast 2 days ago and I noticed my fingers swelled up, (my thump especially) and I have a pins and needles feel. Is this normal or should I call a doctor?

It itches alot, but that's probably because the material is itchy.

I'm a nurse. This is a sign of poor blood circulation, yes call the doctor. You need to also keep it elevated as well, this reduces the swelling. Ibuprofen reduces swelling too. I hope this helps. Take care and all the best.

The swelling is the result of the trauma to the hand. You should be using an ice pack and elevation to help the swelling diminish etc.You will have some residual swelling noted because you can't use your hand normally, because its immobilized.Call the MD after you've tried the ice and elevation and continues to be a problem Take care. Sounds like your cast might be too tight. You should call your doctor, and go to the ER if it gets worse. Also, prop your arm up, that should help reduce the swelling and loosen up the cast.

It's probably related to the reason you got the cast in the first place, but everyone is right please call your doctor.

Mine did an similar element. In my case it became from the bruising/blood below the floor from the coincidence. i imagine in the journey that your solid feels superb, it likely is. in the journey that your hands get numb or tingle or some thing unusual, you want to call the final practitioner who placed your solid on, notwithstanding.
