OK- a LAN connection built into your laptop means that you can connect with an Ethernet cable. (Sometimes referred to as CAT 5 or CAT 6) ANY computer is ready for the internet, as long as you hav a web browser installed-Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari (Mac) or one of many others-these are merely the best known. The LAN connection (or port) will connect you to a cable router, a DSL router, or a home or corporate network. You can even connect using (gasp) dial-up, as long as you have an Internet service provider and an access number to dial in to.Then, there is wireless access, which is a whole other thing that I won't go into here.

May not have anything to do with the Internet. LAN simply means Local Area Network. some dsl Internet hook ups use the LAN cable to connect but you need the dsl modem to connect it to. If you have a built in DSL modem you can hook up to it.

yes, built in lan means you have a ethernet card on-board and can then plug a high speed connection into it, DSL, cable ect.
