It seems that my computer underwent some repairs and most of the files were gone. Although the internet is working, I cannot read and/or send out emails. In addition, the sound and video functions disappeared. I wondered if there is an application/function on Microsoft XP that a person can used to restore Internet and other application functions on the computer?

How did you know that your computer underwent some repairs? Did you do it yourself? Seems like your missing drivers for some of your hardware and software programs. You need to install it back from your original, disk that comes with your computer not the xp disk but the drivers. You also seems like no internet connection the internet you have right now is not live it's most likely cache.

You could try the restore function.Open all programs, click on accessories,go to system tools, then to restore, follow the prompts and go to an earlier time when your computer ran good.Good luck!
