If you can use a screw driver it is a piece of cake.. i recommend also a flashlight. depending on your case you will need a small screw sriver phillips most likely i believe a #1 or even smaller.. You will be glad you messed with it.. the amount of work it actually takes you will laugh at yourself for going to them for anything.. however you should edit your question telling your pc model,, now installing the operating system might be a hair tricky. but not too bad assuming you have an OperatingSystem disc... many people here can be much more thorough if you give pc model number and p/n of what exact hard drives you are buying

How old is the machine, if its a pre SATA hard drive thene the DVD-ROM and the hard drive can be connected on the same cable, just make sure you're hard drives pin configuration is set to 'Master' and the DVD-ROM is set to 'slave' - its easier than it sounds. If its a newer machine and has SATA connections for the hard drive then its just a different type of connector and again very easy to do.

The shop will be asking a lot of money for doing it just to put you off probably.

Yes it is easy and there are several sites that detail the steps. Try entering "hdd installation" on google and pick a site...

It depends on knowing the lingo. I have just as much trouble as you, my friend. The only thing I can suggest is to get a friend to help you out.
Good luck!
