Taping a conversation that took place in an area like a lobby or other place where people could possibly overhear what was said means that you had no reasonable expectation to privacy. Sorry but on that charge you don't have any recourse. If it were over the phone that would be federal wiretap laws and you would be golden. To sum it up. No matter if you are in the bosses office with the door closed and locked with the shades down and you whisper. You still don't have a reasonable expectation of privacy because it is a place that can be accessed by the general public. The family thing is a whole different thing. Tell him to grow some Ball$ and stand up to his family for you and make this stop. If he doesn't then you leave because he does not respect you, trust you, or believe in you enough to not believe them and its all going to end anyhow. Sorry for the bad news.

In most states it is perfectly legal to record a conversation
if at least one party to the conversation knows that it is
being recorded.
It is not legal (without a warrant) to record a conversation
if nobody in it is aware that you are doing it.
Yeah, it is certainly reprehensible, but not illegal.
However, your husband has essentially been kidnapped.
That is, it is illegal to hold somebody against their will
unless you are the state (and you are being arrested
or held as a material witness or have been committed
as a crime).
The concept of "Intervention" is, under some circumstances,
great, but you cannot legally kidnap someone just 'cause
you think he's not right in the head.

If you play the devil, sure they are going to believe you are the devil. Remember, "You have the right to remained silence, anything you say in the court of law can be used against you". Does this rings a bell? What were you thinking and how old are you? If they cannot pin anything on you eventually your case will be clear but, with your in-laws and husband, that is a different story. Trust is gone forever! Game playing is over when you become an adult. I hope the mess you created all by yourself can be cleared quickly. Learn from your mistakes.

What state are you in? In a majority of the states, only one person has to know that they are being recorded. Besides, you were in a hotel lobby. You had no reasonable expectation of privacy.

It does variety state to state, whether, the known public of states mandate that a recorded communication is in basic terms admissible if all events are attentive to the recording on the time. The courts often frown on that on account that's deceptive. yet, you by no skill comprehend till you touch a qualified lawyer for his suggestion on the subject.

If you did not break the law, you don't have a problem. If you did, you might have a problem.
If the taping was legal, it will be admissible in court. If it was illegal, it will not be admissible in court.
I suggest a good attorney, as no other advice will help you.

What they have done to your husband is called KIDNAPPING!! In America, you CANNOT hold an adult against their will. You should seriously call the police. You also could sue them for illegally recording you. Either your husband should stand up to them or you should divorce him. Period.

you CANNOT be found guilty of anything they say based on the recording. If you were not notified that your conversations were being recorded, then they cannot be used against you.
Good Luck!
