All ive heard is that the Celtics would take Oden over Durant if they got the 1st pick in the draft, I cant understand this. Everyone compares Durant to being the next Tracy Mcgrady. The celtics need a big point scorer which Oden wont do, it seems like it would be another bust, useless pick if the celtics waste the choice on Oden instead of Durant, why Oden?

the celtics dont need a scorer. they need a bill russel type guy. thats what oden is. he can defend, have you seen a celtics game, we cant defend. adding durant we be similar to joe johnson and chauncey billups. they are great player but the wouldnt woork with the system. we would trade him away and feel stupid after words. plus the celtics have no big men. oliaknaiodi is a bum, perkins is awful

Plain and simple. Oden is seven feet tall. A talented big man is the universal gold standard in the NBA. Even if Durant is the better player, the fact that the center position is so shallow in the NBA means that Oden will be more valuable. End of story.

They need to improve their defense, Paul Pierce is obviously their franchise player, and he is a great scorer already, no point in getting another one in Durant. If they take Oden they will be multi faceted and even a contender in the weak Atlantic Division.
Durant is for a team that lacks firepower, and offense isn't Boston's _biggest_ woe.

A center with Oden's size and talent only comes along once in awhile. It is much easier to find a scorer. Besides, they play in the Eastern Confrence which has very few talented big men.
