the celtics dont need a scorer. they need a bill russel type guy. thats what oden is. he can defend, have you seen a celtics game, we cant defend. adding durant we be similar to joe johnson and chauncey billups. they are great player but the wouldnt woork with the system. we would trade him away and feel stupid after words. plus the celtics have no big men. oliaknaiodi is a bum, perkins is awful

Plain and simple. Oden is seven feet tall. A talented big man is the universal gold standard in the NBA. Even if Durant is the better player, the fact that the center position is so shallow in the NBA means that Oden will be more valuable. End of story.

They need to improve their defense, Paul Pierce is obviously their franchise player, and he is a great scorer already, no point in getting another one in Durant. If they take Oden they will be multi faceted and even a contender in the weak Atlantic Division.
Durant is for a team that lacks firepower, and offense isn't Boston's _biggest_ woe.

this is form of like asking despite if Miami could have given up Lamar Odom and Caron Butler to get Shaq some years in the past. they could have outfitted a beginning around D-Wade with Odom and Butler however the warmth had to win now. looking back on that determination after the warmth gained their first identify in 2006, it would not seem so undesirable. even however, Butler is now an All-celebrity and Odom remains efficient yet i do no longer think of Miami could have gained a championship without Shaq. each so often, the presence of a shown veteran chief makes greater of an impression in assessment to construction around a gaggle of up-an-comers. i think of the C's could nonetheless are turning out to be Garnett (as Nick C reported) yet could Oden have made as lots of a distinction as Ray Allen? the twin tower result could have been astounding yet after witnessing how lots Philly has struggled this year with Elton form and Samuel Dalembert (the Sixers twin tower imitation) - i'm placing out to have doubts. Ray Ray brings to the Celtics a measurement the Sixers lack - a relentless outdoors danger. people talk approximately Paul Pierce's heroic overall performance interior the Finals and how James Posey introduced back recommendations of massive Shot Rob however the guy many oftentimes forget approximately, is the pointy taking photos sniper product from Seattle. Allen singlehandedly destroyed the Lakers in that interest 6 of the NBA Finals whilst he linked 7 out of 9 3 rules, that's a whopping seventy seven.8%!! for my area, the appropriate championship team shouldn't place all their eggs in a single basket. With Oden and Garnett, Boston could have been a needed interior team yet which could have bogged down their interest against uptempo communities like Golden State and Phoenix (whilst D'Antoni became into education). this is no longer basically like the Celtics are a foul shielding team without Oden the two. they could have been greater intimidating with Greg however the C's are greater risky now with their new-got here upon flexibility. Boston could kill you from outdoors with Allen's taking photos or interior with KG wrecking havoc down low. You throw in Rondo's superior playmaking skill, Pierce's all-around production, and an recuperating center in Kendrick Perkins - i believe that this direction the Celtics took became into the acceptable case undertaking that could have befell for Boston followers. basically my 2 cents.

Well first of all, comparing Durant to McGrady is an insult to Durant. What exactly has McGrady won? He's a dog who sits out half the time.
Oden is clearly the #1 pick. You can build around him and win multiple championships, potentially. Durant is more like Garnett, who unlike McGrady, can play. But even garnett hasn't brought any championships to Minn.

A center with Oden's size and talent only comes along once in awhile. It is much easier to find a scorer. Besides, they play in the Eastern Confrence which has very few talented big men.

Oden is bigger and stronger. The Celtics need a good big man that can score, rebound, block shots, and do what big men do.
