It is a simple opoeration. You can cut the pipe with a hack-saw, and installing a replacement is fairly straight-forward.
BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW----->
Doing this is a Federal offense, and carries rather large and draconian penalties.
You would be much better off either purchasing a replacement Catalytic Converter, or taking the Bronco to a muffler shop and ask for an "Economy" converter to be installed. It should be < $200.00 including labor. Any you are legal this way, and will pass your emissions test without failing for MODIFIED or MISSING equipment.

The best place to cut it is at the in part of the catalatic and use a sawzall or metal saw..it will be easy to put on a cherry muffler on it ..get the one you want and get some metal strapping and then mount it to the frame but make sure you keep it away from the side wich has the fuel line because those cherry mufflers put off ALOT OF HEAT.
