this for editing with older DV500 card

Both are extremely old, not much use compared to the newer ones. As a standard video card, either one will do fine.

I would always personally suggest Nvidia by personal and gaming / video compatibility experience.
Nvidia supply free trouble-shooting service and downloads from http://www.nvidia.com
