Of the present players I would have to say Ken Grifffy Jr. His swing is fluid and smooth.

I'd have to agree with others about the past, would be Ted Williams.

Hey joe s, Pete Rose and Ty Cobb both had over 4000 career hits. But I have seen when Rose played, he was a good hitter, but he didn't have a sweet swing like Ted Williams.

Present: a healthy Ken Griffey Jr. His swing is so smooth and powerful. I used to cater for the Reds and met him along with Sosa and McGwire. Griffey was slender compared to those two (he still is a big guy) but he was slender and not thick, he looked like a leadoff hitter in comparison. Yet his swing was amazing, so smooth and powerful and when he made solid contact it was so natural that it made sense the ball would fly.
Past: Tony Gwynn. I met him toward the end of his career when he did not look like an athlete, but his swing was perfect. He could hit to all fields with little effort. An excellent swing to a great person.

Ken Griffey Jr. has the sweetest swing but Albert Pujols is definitely the best hitter in the game today, hands down!

As far as sweet swings are concerned, for some reason it seems like lefties have a more fluid motion. With that in mind,
Past - Ted Williams, Willie McC, Darryl Strawberry. Present - Bonds and Todd Helton have smooth effortless-looking swings that I'd consider "sweet".

Tough one.... Even being a Cards fan and i love Albert...
The answer is..
Present:
Chipper Jones - left handed. (put Adam LaRoche in here when he has been around for 10 years).

Past:
Will Clark - I first heard an announcer use the term Sweetest Swing while Will "the thrill" Clark.
Tony Gwynn - wasn't always fluid and long but no wasted motion and results can't be beat.

Robinson Cano. This guy hits doubles and triples to all fields. He has a unique inside out stroke for a lefty hitter. 2007 Avg. 342 with 41 doubles. Jeter had 39 and Cano missed four weeks in the. summer.

Maybe I'm biased being a Twins fan but Joe Mauer has a very sweet swing. But all-time I might have to say Tony Gwynn or Wade Boggs.
