how much should i expect to pay for a dj?

for my graduation party, we set a budget of about 5000 dollars. how much of this should go to the dj? aside from the room and food, this will likely be the second-largest expense. I want a really good dj, but not a corny wedding or mitzvah dj. more like a dj that has had some experience spinning at clubs and lounges.

depends on how many hours - I had a great one and only paid $500. He was from a club / lounge.
