YES - it is referred to as "estrogen breakthrough bleeding" or "estrogen withdrawl beeding". Which you experience depends on you individually.
Most younger women experiene breakthough. Before ovulation, estrogen causes the lining of your uterus to grow. If you don't ovulate, for whatever reason (and there are many), the lining will get too thick to hold itself and then your body will shed it.
Withdrawl bleeding tends to occur mostly during menopause and some women with fertility problems.

Yes you can have a period with ovulating. It is called an anovulatory cycle. Sometimes a woman may just not release an egg during a cycle. Other times this happens because of hormone imbalances associated with something like PCOS.

I agree with Mary G, I have read many books about it, and a woman can have a period even though she didn't ovulate. The body prepares itself to receive an egg, and when this doesn't happen, it discharges anyway.

no, your period is the sign that tells you that 1, you have ovulated, and 2 it was not successful and your not pregnant. a period is your uterus cleaning itself out after your it has been building up blood in preparation of a new baby. when the egg is not fertilized, the uterus pushes the blood out with the egg. so no, you HAVE to ovulate to have a period.

Yes yes it is my sister in law has that problem. it's a hormone problem many women on the pill will still have a period but they do not ovulate. (the pill is offten given to women with iregular periods to strighten them out) yet again it's all hormones that cause that.

yes it is. a egg does not have to be released for the body to prepare for an egg. a period happens when the body has prepared for an egg and doesnt get one... that either happens because one didnt get released or because it didnt get fertilitzed. either one will result in a menstural cycle.

No. Having your period means that you ovulated (your egg traveled down the fallopian tube), was not fertilized, and your womb is cleansing itself. Good luck!

No, blood only builds up if it senses the egg, so if no egg drops, no blood comes.
