hi i've lived in manchester for 31 years, and its a great place to live, dont listen to the likes of jeanimus and john h,every area has its good and bad places, yes moss side, harpurhey and monsall are well dodgy areas, but ive lived in cheetham my whole life, first as my family home and then when i moved out to start a family of my own,not all the teens here carry a.s.b.o's like some kind of status symbol,in 31 years i have never been mugged, robbed or burgled,so anyway i would stay away from the places i mentioned above, but anywhere else is fine, its the luck of the draw really, just like it is when you move into ANY new area.

Ancoats is pretty bad i lived there for about 2 months and decided i had had enough while there i saw burnt out cars outside my flat and witnessed about 7 9-10 year olds beating an old man up with footpumps and crowbars!!! Levenshulme is bad too. Oh and by the way Greater Manchester rules esp Bolton!!!! Come on you whites!!

I live in Manchester and most people here regard the worst places to live as ; Moss Side,Cheetham Hill, Salford, Longsight,Moston,Oldham,Kersley.
Some nice places are Prestwich,Sedgley Park,Worsley. It depends on what you consider bad points though-some of the towns are very run down but are ok,others are very rough areas not suitable if you have a family. But the majority opinion of most people outside of the areas i've mentioned first, are that they are the worst places.

I was brought up in Wythenshawe but a place that is nice near by is didsbury. it is where the programme cold feet was filmed. It is known for students but there is great night life, it is easy to get in the centre of town by both bus and train.
