This is the first house I've ever seen that goes through light bulbs on average once every 3 to 4 weeks. Jeeze, there must be something in the wiring or something that is causing this. please help

The only things that I know burns bulbs out fast is
moisture
vibration
voltage

Water if you have it you know it
Vibration whats above the light attic or the kids bedrooms
voltage effects the whole house not just one or two lights.

I agree that cheap bulbs can cause problems, look for bulbs that are rated for 130 volts

You can buy an outlet voltage tester at places like Lowe's and other Hardware Stores, (The instructions are pretty easy to understand).Your outlets should range between 115 and 120 however there are places that receives its electricity at a constant 122 and 123 + I don't understand why but I'm on a Co Op and I get 122 which burns out bulbs pretty quick. There is another thing and that is the grounding from your house, if you don't know about it then have someone who knows to check your ground wire, maybe the power meter reader when they come to read your monthly meter reading. They should check it for free if you ask them, plus your power company will tell you the correct volts that should read on your out lets when you read them with a meter. A low reading will also end a bulbs life faster than normal.

Maybe your useing bulbs thats over loading the circuit. Normal is 60 watt light bulb. If you needed it brighter than that. then maybe you should go and see a eye doctor.

It happens when you use cheap bulbs. Buy those flourescent energy saver bulbs. They cost a bit more but will be worth it in the long run.

are the brightness of the bulbs constant when they are on? do the bulbs flash brightly just before they die? ifso you may be getting a power surge, try using longlife light bulbs . They are less energy efficient but they last longer
