My body fat is 30%,
i weighed myself this morning and i was 126lbs.
i'm 44 years old. female.
i dont look like i'm 30% of fat.
what gives?
yes the scale is correct.

OK, don't freak out. You NEED that fat for protection and heat retention. If you want to check your BMI (body mass index) look on an online calculator. It gives you a number, not a percent, which can be deceiving. Then it illustrates what is healthy for your age, weight and height. Go by that, not the percentage. And by the way, if you are happy with the way you look, don't listen to a scale :)

I just entered all your information in that link I included and it says you are perfectly healthy. (I would have a brownie in celebration!)

You may look good, but you have little muscle tissue. It's fat rather than muscle.
How did you figure your body fat?
I am 2 inches taller, and a little heavier, and have a 24% body fat. That's average for a girl my age. I am pretty strong because I weight lift and work-out regurally.
30% is overweight if the body fat percent is correct. Next time you see your doctor, ask him or her to do a test. It will be more accurate.

According to a BMI calculator, you're 21% body fat.
