What do you think about smokers?

As long as they don't smoke around you, do you care whether or not they do it? Do you think less of someone who smokes?

I realize that it is a personal decision whether or not a person will smoke. From a health viewpoint, it's amazing that anyone ever does because of the health risk. I don't think anyone likes the fact that anyone else smokes, but we don't usually tell them that to be polite. It sucks to want to hang out with certain people and you come home and your clothes stink like smoke. And kissing a smoker is just kinda gross to me. I think with older people, most people don't think much of whether they smoke or not because it was more prevalent in their day and they are hooked, but younger people do get judged harsher because we have all had it pounded into our heads that it's unhealthy so the people that do it are seen as trashier for it. It's not fair, but it's a bad habit, so maybe it will be enough negative feedback to make people want to stop. And honestly, I don't think I've ever met a smoker who didn't want to stop, so it seems like even smokers agree it is a bad habit.

How can they not do it around me? Everywhere I go I constantly pass smokers on the street and am forced to breath their toxic death fumes. I live in an apartment building and I smell smoke in the hallways and I smell it in my apartment sometimes. Smokers always stand outside of buildings and smoke and people think this prevents non-smokers from having to breath their passive smoke. Where do you think all that smoke goes? It gets sucked up the vents of the building and piped throughout the entire inside of the building. I don't care if someone wants to destroy their health and shorten their lifespan, but I DO care if someone's decision to kill themselves compromises my health as well.

it has been proved that 2nd hand smoke is just as dangerous so no I don't like people to smoke around me besides their smoke stinks, their clothes and hair all smell like a dirty ashtray . maybe they like to smell that way but all smokers stink like that. I don't know why people smoke after all you would try to get out of a smoking building so why would you smoke and breathe in toxic smoke? I have had many friends die from smoking and as they are trying to gasp for air they have all said that they wished they had not smoked as that was what killed them.

I think it's a filthy, disgusting habit, not to mention expensive. People that smoke have very addictive personalities and cannot handle life on it's own terms, they need a crutch!

I wouldn't live with or marry a smoker, let's put it that way. But to each his own.

Smoking doesn't bother me. It's a choice. At least it's smoking and not stealing. I don't think worse of someone because they smoke.

I don't like that people smoke but I don't like them any less if they smoke, even though the smell is terrible. I just rather they wouldn't smoke near me.

I use to smole untill my left lung collasped twice in 2005 once in oct and the secnd time in Nov had to have chest tube put in the 2nd time i had to have my lung operated on i quit after having gone through all that pain but my husband still smokes but i am alot better now.

if its someone that's not related to me then i don't really care if they smoke unless they're smoking around me but if its someone related to me than i would care and yes i do think less of someone who smokes because i personally find it pointless to smoke why would someone want to fill their body with smoke because they are basically killing them self....at the end they are going to get lung cancer..heart attack..and die.......
