...Largely on the basis of Bush's stated intent to repeal the "Secret Evidence Repeal Act"

"Islamic political leaders cite Texas governor's outreach to their community"

"American Muslims and civil libertarians believe secret evidence, as it is currently used in Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) deportation hearings, is unconstitutional. They believe that it is used disproportionately against Muslims in America. A number of Muslim detainees have been held for up to four years based on evidence that is not revealed to them or their attorneys."

"Bush: On the issue of secret evidence – another creation of the Clinton/Gore Justice Department – I am also troubled by the disturbing stories of how this policy is being implemented. More and more, new immigrants, often Arab or Muslim immigrants, face deportation or even imprisonment based on evidence they've never seen and never been able to dispute. That's not the American way"

Bush as an entity is an oxy-moron. Emphasis on the moron. It is obvious to me that Bush cares little for the USA and has sold his soul to Wall Street.

I'm certain that Saudi Arabia is funneling money to Bush through US contracting jobs in their country. Some people are so blind not see Bush's priorities which isn't the average US citizen.

Ask any $20 per hour republican how much their pay increased after the so-called tax cut. They don't even look at their own pay stubs.

Yes, I know most American muslims voted for Bush in 2000 and that Bush had tried to help muslims while he was Texas governor, much like Clinton helped muslims in Bosnia and Kosovo, and look how muslims repayed both Bush and Clinton on 9/11/2001. Thanks for reminding us we can't trust muslims. The koran even tells them to break treaties and they are taught to lie to "infidels" any time they think lying will help spread islam.
Keep up the good work and remind us of more of the treachery of islam so more Americans will wake up and smell the jihad.

You're "facts" are misleading. Bush won Arab American support by a small percentage primarily because the vast majority of Arab Americans voted for Nader. Bush's support among Arabs has eroded every year since.

For the record, the issues discussed in the article date back to 1999 - 2000 and are hardly contemporary or reflective of the last presidential election cycle.

Secondly, I think that works out well. Wasn't it Osama and his pals who were applauding the Dem's victory in November of 2006?

The Bush family does not follow the "American Way," either, and as soon as he could he made those rules infinitely more retrictive with such things as the Patriot Act. Now you can go in to custody and never get out. I'm sure those American Muslims who voted for Bush are real pleased about having been so easily duped along with the rest of us.

It doesn't surprise me. Repressive religions (Muslim, Christian, or any other) often support repressive governments.
