I'm creating a rock garden and would like to know how much 1 ton of rock covers with a depth of 2 inches

It depends on the mass density of the rock, you will need to tell us what kind of rock you are using.

It's difficult to know because you haven't specified the size rock you want...it can range from coarse rock (2-3") down to pea gravel. Plus I'm assuming you don't mean boulders...which could be one ton singlely. Obviously gravel will spread more. Here they sell it by the cubic yard, not weight since rock densities vary so. A dump truck full of blue/redstone gravel maybe does a 12 square foot area. You may want to update your question to be more specific.

you will need to have more information. There is no standard shape and size of a 1 ton rock.
