Ideally: happiness..

But, if the job you do does not earn enough to even eat then what is the point? You won't be able to stay alive long enough to really accomplish anything. So if I can only choose one or the other, I would have to choose money.

If however, I can have enough money to live on doing something I love, then I would choose happiness.

Happiness is most important but since we all have a different
definition of what makes us happy it will usually involve the need for the right job to earn the money it takes to live and therefore find that happiness.
Some people can be happy with very little and others will never find happiness no matter how much money they have.

Happiness! You have to love what you do, because your going to be doing it for a long time. If you are stressed every day at a job you dont like it will create other problems! You must be able to get up every day and go to a job that you can cope with, and be able to tolerate. Money is nice, but no matter how much you make, if your not happy, its not worth it!

Happiness ( but sometimes you need a job for the money to keep you happy).

I'll be 54 in a month. The longest I've ever held 1 job was 7 years.
My life and experience say that happiness is most important.

It's sort of 50/50. Anyone would want to be happy with their job. But the job also has to provide enough money for you to live comfortably.

Happiness is ideally what we seek. If your job pays you less than you actually deserve, can you be happy? I doubt it unless you are working for a non-profit organisation who really can't pay you much. But if you are working for a big company and if they pay you below your capability level, then you will not be happy. So realistically speaking, money and happiness go hand in hand. That's true for a job situation. If we are talking about our passion, then that's a different thing altogether.

happiness for sure but if you arent making the money how completely happy could you be. there are so many sacrifices here. for instance, i worked alot of jobs in screen printing. i like screen printing but the people were ruff and or the pay was low. there in lies the problem. you like what you do but not where you do it. so we take chances and hop from company to company hoping that the combination of the 3 likes and dislikes can all be combined as just likes. so finally after many good and bad attemts, i finally found a job about 2.5 yrs ago the boss and people are great. the boss is always trying to help me financially. shes leniant as far as missed/ made up hours and the pay well, its ok. 11.00 hour. i get ok bonuses and i love what i do. unfortunately 11.00 dollars an hour is not where i want to be and i feel like after screen printing its just worn out itself for me. it is too repititious for me and im under alot of strain because of it. because i have been aware of this fact for some time i decided to ask myself, what other career could i do and how hard would the change be.so ive been learning the ways people interact with each other and ive decided that in about 2 years im going to school for counseling. about a year and a half ago my boy friend got laid off of his screen printing job of 12 years and had the worst time trying to find a job.he even went to school for trucking and heavy equipment and hes had a hell of a time getting a job for that. i guess the school he went to is looked down upon a little because the cramming of training time in such a short period. school cost about 7500 dollars and whered it get him so its not just those 2 questions you have to ask. its all these. and this one more importantly. if o have a great job with good people and ok pay, is it worth it to move forward and risk losing your spot where your at? you tell me.

Why one at the exclusion of the other? I think the right job/career for anyone is one that you both enjoy doing and provides enough to meet your needs financially. I think if you have to sacrifice either it's not the right job or place to be in your life.

And if we have to sacrifice either element I'd view it as a temporary stepping stone position while looking for a situation that provides both. True contentment doesn't come from sacrificing either of these elements IMHO.
