Like on the PlayStation 3 you have a buddy list, and you can chat with your friends on the PS3. Can you chat with your friends on the Wii? If yes, can you explain it? Can you use your avatars from the Mii Chanel?

Ignore the stupid fanboys who don't have a clue. The Wii does let you chat, although not like an instant messenger. Think Wii E-mail, also affectionately referred to as "Wii-Mail." You compose a letter, attach a picture and/or Mii, select who to send it to, and bam. The letter gets sent, and the recipient's Wii will start glowing. The Wii may someday have a live chat function, Nintendo can pretty much do anything they want with it, all they need to do is release a new update. Look at the Everybody Votes Channel, it just came outta nowhere. :P It's pretty unique too, nothing you'd ever see from Microsoft or Sony. The PS3 is not a media center by the way, it's just an overpriced console that tries so hard to be something it's not. Just like the PSP. I'm not a fanboy by the way, I'm realistic. I support Sony and Microsoft to the fullest extent. Just like I support Sega, Rare, Ubisoft, Retro, and all the other badass game developers. Fanboys just piss me off. Especially stupid ones who haven't even got the facts straight. Yes I am talking about you two, austacution and tanubansa17.

The Wii can have your mii mingle and you can send messages back and forth once you have registered friends on the Mii network.
You will need to edit your Mii and enable mingle to have it mingle in the public online plaza.

if you mean nitendo wii then you can't. a wii is just a video game you can't chat on it.
