I have no interest in the oscars at all. You're correct about the egomaniascism. However, there are those who are curious and hoping for their favourite films and actors to win, so it is not correct to call them ignorant morons. They just have different interests than you do.

I'm one of those 'morons' too. I like to see if people I like win awards, and I like to see if movies I like win awards. Although this year I haven't seen the movies nominated.
