OK. Politically I am extremely left-wing, but I have right-wing friends, and I don't let politics get in the way of relationship. People have their own opinions, that's fine with me.

Here, it's a completely different story. Here there are people attacking not just political figures - that I could live with - but everyone who has a political ideology other than their own. Every other post is along the lines of 'All liberals are traitor Hellbound scum' or 'republicans = MORONS'.

Why is it that you cannot live with the idea of anyone having a different opinion to you? Why do you feel compelled to generalise and slander against a whole half of your country? What's wrong with you?

If you want to post to sympathise that's fine, but what I really want is for one of the people that does this to justify it.

Have you ever seen those dumbed down teen horror movies where someone (usually a blonde girl) says something like, "Oh, I haven't seen Emily or Jason in oh......six or seven hours. I think I'll just go down into the dark basement and see if they are in there."

What's your immediate reaction? You want to yell at the screen, "Are you stupid? Don't do it. You're gonna get chopped in half."

This is how Conservatives and Liberals feel about each others viewpoints. Conservatives believe the Liberals are totally clueless about everything and vice versa. Now that we are living in a world where the stakes have been raised so high due to terrorism, being wrong isn't just something you can chalk up to experience. Making the wrong decision can be the difference between a safe nation and having a nuke blown up in your biggest city.

The voice of reason.
I agree. But it is sometimes very difficult to keep a civil tongue, or in this case, a civil 'keyboard' when some barely literate --------- writes something like:
Why do ALL liberals support terrorism?
Why don't liberals support the troops in Iraq?
And you see this ten times in one hour?

I do not think that many people who respond in the ways that you have pointed out, will bother to respond here. In my opinion they feel that they are correct and there is no need for justification. Personally I feel individuals that are that closed minded will be the downfall of society.

I agree altho I'm guilty of this too. I'm seeing more and more of your kind of question on here and it's good cause things have gotten out of hand. This carries on to the media, entertainment world and all over. We need to get along.

Many people here post things they would never say to anyone's face. This board gives people the oportunity to vent anonymously. I would say to anyone's face anything I have said here & probably worse.

You are writing about people who, if talking face-to-face rather than writing what they have to say, would feel the need to shout in order to get their message heard.
I share your disdain for those who feel the need to insult or excoriate those who disagree.

The cons say liberals only tolerate their own free speech, even when the cons are the SAME EXACT WAY!

I agree with you. I'm disappointed in fellow Americans for this, and I don't get it, either. It's as if that majority really has no sense of a 'bigger picture'.
