I had a custom toughened glass shower-door made recently which shattered very quickly! The glass was 6mm thick with square corners. I have been told that if the corners were rounded slightly, this may make the glass less susceptible to breaking as this is the weak point of toughened glass. Is this true?

Glass is funny thing you Can whack it with a hammer and it wont break ,you can put the smallest of pressure on it and bang it's gone!
If the edges had been rounded then it may have helped.
Yes is the answer to the question round all edges and look for any pressure points

What an exciting try! Glass, as you would possibly want to know, is sand it truly is heated right into a liquid and then poured right into a mold. it truly is really ordinary to break glass because it truly is brittle. a fabric is brittle if, at the same time as subjected to stress, it fails with out significant stress. The breaking of the glass starts contained in the inter-atomic bonds of the glass. at the same time as lower than pressure, those bonds stretch and finally destroy. In different words, the stuff conserving the atoms of the glass at the same time snap. there is fairly an finished branch of physics dedicated to fractures stated as fractography. wish I helped!
