The way they drive. The police around here seem to think the traffic laws don't apply to them. I'm not talking about when they are responding to a situation, sirens and lights and all that. I mean on routine patrol. They speed, make rolling stops, fail to use turn signals, park illegally, tailgate, all the stuff they pull people over for. They should be the best and safest drivers on the road.
Other than that, I think they do a pretty good job and behave like professionals.

It's generally not the police. It is usually the policy makers that set the rules for the police that can become a problem.

In theory, cops are supposed to be pillars of society, the cream of the crop if you will: people who protect us from murderers, rapists, gangs, kidnappers, etc. And while there's clearly truth to that, there's another side of the story as well. Many cops overstep their boundaries by harassing innocent protesters, engaging in racial profiling, police brutality, corruption (generally in the form of taking bribes), etc. While I'm not saying that all cops do this, it seems to me that very few cops ever condemn those who do. Here is one infamous example that took place here in the NYC area: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amadaou_diallo

Not too much. I get bothered when they use too much force or taser too liberally though.
