Removing Retaining Rings?

I'm trying to switch out my hand levers on my motorcycle but the pins is secured with retaining rings. How can I remove the rings?

Buy the right pliers, retaining ring pliers they usually work in either direction as some rings expand to go on others shrink to get in.
