Actually, weight doesn't really matter, more the ability to hold yourself up. You could weigh 160 pounds, but as long as your ankles and legs are strong enough, than you're fine.

In truth, weight only matters if you are aiming for a career in ballet, and if you are just starting and are already that tall, I would say it will be a challenge to make a career of it at any rate as it is a rare talent that can begin training that late in life (most start around the age of 7 to build the fundamentals)
That being said, find a class and enjoy! I have taught many adult and teen beginner classes and they were some of the most rewarding and fun classes ever.

You don't mention your age, but is suggest that you learn ballet first THEN worry about weight when you start to dance with a partner. I partnered women over 6'tall and 150 lbs, but back then I could also bench press 350 lbs. At 5'8" you are rather tall for a ballerina though George Balanchine would have loved you. Work hard, do your movements well and Good Luck.

If you're in this just to have fun, don't worry about weight. It doesn't matter really, actually I've seen a lot of heavier people be lighter in their jumps than those people who don't weigh very much. You just have to learn how to hold your body. If you are serious about dancing, you'll probably lose some body fat and become skinnier. You also will probably develop a lot of leg (and some arm) muscles, which might add a little to your weight (I'm 5'3"-ish, and I weigh around 110, but it's all muscle)......... If you're worried about partner dancing, don't worry because the men are pretty fit most of the time and are very good with lifts.

There are only a few times when wight is important to be a dancer... if you are a professional in a top company, or if you are doing partner work (just to be light enough for your partner to pick you up and look effortless). Other than that, don't worry about your weight.

honey let me say that whoever said you should be 120 pounds at 5'8" is INSANE.
130 pounds is still a little low.. you wouldn't be medically considered overweight until you reached 165.. but trust me honey i have danced pointe for years and had no problems being 5'5 and 140 pounds.
just love dancing!
