I don't think that there is ONE single couple from back in my high school days, who is still together today! That "forever and ever" stuff that everyone feels at that stage of life -- well it doesn't last in most cases! Times and people change, grow, and move through different stages in life. I think people are better off waiting on "settling down" until they gain a bit more of a "mature perspective" on life. Chances for a more long-term relationship are better then.

It's possible they could get married, but realistically, they often don't and if they do, they often divorce. Why? Because they have not had the chance to experience dating other people, and as they grow older and change their interests, perspectives & goals in life, what they look for in a mate changes as well. I think if people are together all through high school and WANT to get married after high school, then more power to them. I wish them all the blessings in the world. I just would never count on that happening because usually when people grow up, they realize that there is a big world out there and they have been confining their interests to only a small little portion of the world and they at least long to test the waters out before making a definate commitment to one particular person.

It depends on whether or not it's true love. I met a boyfriend (now ex boyfriend) in high school and we were together for 9 1/2 years and have been friends for about 3 years after that. I thought I would marry him - but like some people he changed into someone I could no longer love or like.

it depends on a lot of factors, whether you go to college, whether you go to the same college, etc.
If you go to different colleges, you'll most likely break up. also, it seems that people who don't go to college at all are more likely to marry their high school sweethearts.
College is just such an experience that changes you in many ways, and you meet so many new people that you have to pretty much go get lucky and have similar experiences to stay similar enough to stay together.
I'm now 3 years out of highschool, and about 60% of the couples I knew who were together all through highschool have broken up already.

It depends on the individuals. Myself, I did marry my high school sweetheart, but I always wanted marriage and children, since before I can remember, and I can remember back to before kindergarten.
