nforce 2 is a bit dated chipset for gaming and even the 7300gt isn't really the card of choice anymore....I'd go with XP just to take as much load off the system as possible.

you're always gonna be chasing your tail a bit when it comes to gaming hardware....might want to think about throwin a few hundred bucks towards an xbox360 or playstation....solid 5 years of game support without any upgrading headaches

besides....you could always download vista off a p2p for free if you really want to run it

Stay with Winxp, as Vista will be much slower in games. Even though the sound card (according to model) might help, the video card is the extreme bottleneck of the system. You really need a much better video card then that. The cpu is fast enough, another 1gb can help out. A sound card with a DSP chip, can help some. In games, it's the video card that is the most important part. http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html

Yahoo video games has a great decision of on line video games you could play with different persons. For video games you could play on my own, fb has various good ones like Bejeweled, Peggle, and Tetris.

I would have to say it all depends on how important sound is to you.

If amazing sound is more important to you than a new, buggy, operating system; then get the sound card.
