i gave up all sodas cause i drink way too much of them, i didnt realize how much till i did though. ive had caffiene headaches everyday and ive been going to sleep much earlier. its weird.

What people give up is a personal thing and should only be between the individuals and God.
You notice on Ash Wednesday, the reading chosen is about when Jesus told is to pray and give to God in private because it's the noisy attention-getters who pray and suffer publicly.
I'm sorry if I seemed to jump all over your question, it's just that many people are offended by questions about who gave up what for lent because it is a personal thing. I am not so easily offended myself, but I do try to give people their own personal space with God.

My family takes new things on more than giving things up.
I'm working out and studying the Bible every day, which is difficult to keep up with! (Especially since I've never done the latter before.)
I gave up pop one year and never really got back the desire for it. Weird how that works.
