Empty the tank and refill with gas.

Drain fuel system (carb and fuel lines, or injector lines and return line) and change your fuel filters.

You may have already damaged some of the pollution control devices/sensors. If so you will have some repair bills for those, but the engine itself should be OK.

One of the most popular "engine treatment" gasoline fuel additives is nothing but diesel oil.

The older the car is, the better. The Ford model T would run on diesel or kerosene after it was warmed up, just put out a little extra smoke.

The gas tank will need to be emptied and flushed and refilled with good gasoline. The rest of the fuel system will need to be flushed out to remove the diesel fuel. Change the fuel filter. The oil should also be changed in case of contamination. The spark plugs will be fouled with diesel fuel and should be changed.
Most cars since 1973 or so have a restriction in the filler neck of the gas tank that prevents a diesel fuel nozzle from fitting into it. (Diesel fuel pump nozzles are larger in diameter than gasoline pump nozzles). So unless your car is older than 1973, how did you manage to get the diesel pump nozzle into your gas tank??

OK, first take a deep breath and relax. Your car will probably be fine, diesel fuel is a bit thicker than standard gasoline, so the best thing to do would be to fill up your tank with gas. You may see your car burning heavier exhaust smoke, keep diluting the diesel fuel with gasoline. Putting gasoline into a diesel car is much worse than putting diesel into a gasoline car.

I assume you don't have a diesel car, I would pump it out for sure. You can get a manual pump, and pump it into a gas can.
How much gas did you have in it and how much diesel did you put in? I think cars will work if you have a bit of diesel in it but mostly gas - but don't take any more chances drain it all and fill it back up with gas.

you can (Im gonna take a wild guess on how 2 spell this cause I know I will be wrong) (sifer) it out with a watter hose. Put the hose in ur tank like where u fillit up w/gas you blow in to the end of the hose then suck really hard the diesel should drain out on to the ground just lay the hose on the ground so it can drain out it might takea few tries it is a little hard to do.. Make sure not to swallow the diesel as it starts to come out the hose! my mom did that once when she was oing this for I think the same reason lol she called the danger controld cinter and beause she only swallowed a small amount they tols her to dring lots of watter and she made heself throwu to et it outta her belly lol so just dont swallow it and everything will be okay..! GOOD LUCK!!

Unfortunatly the hot diesel nozzels are smaller than they was once because of upward thrust of diesel vehicles. So it extremely is extremely undemanding to greater healthful the nozzel into your gas filler neck. you will get rid of the tainted gas out of your tank till now you start up the vehicle back. Disconnect the line that is going to the gas injector rail. turn the main directly to start the gas pump and enable it pump out. Of cource have adequate boxes accessible to place it in so which you dont have uncooked gas throughout. as quickly because it extremely is finished, reconnect the gas line and fill the tank with your popular unleaded. top type won't help. as quickly because it extremely is finished you may start the vehicle. it extremely is going to smoke and scent for a collectively as, and you'll be able to fould out the plugs yet as quickly as the diesel is administered out it extremely is going to quiet down. I artwork in a Toyota storage and notice this on occasion. greater so now that the nozzels are smaller.

This is not as big a deal as most people think. If you put in less than 5 gallons or so, just run it out. If you put in a full tank, syphon out as much as you can, refill with gas, and run it through. You may run rough for a couple of tanks but you won't ruin your car.

Have it towed to a shop where they will remove the tank, remove the diesel and clean it well, and put the proper fuel back in. Do NOT start or drive the vehicle. or they will have even more work to do and filters to change, and possibly even fuel injectors to replace.

This is a very unfortunate mistake.
In order to get the car running again, you will need to completely drain and flush-out the gas tank, fuel pump, and fuel lines.
This is not something you are likely to be able to do yourself--you should have an experienced mechanic do this work.

My guy says syphon out the tank and put in gas. Diesal fuel isn't going to work in a gas car. But if you do the syphon and refuel with gas it will be okay. When it first starts up it will smoke and run rough.. just let it run.. it will be okay.
