Will it get boring after a couple days? a week? a month? I want to get this game but I am a victim of buying expensive games that last ONE week :(

Assuming you can play the thing--that your game system's controllers have diagonals you can hit reliably--I think it will last you longer than some fighting games.

But you have to understand, it is a fighting game...meaning it was meant more for one-on-one competition. So it helps a lot to have a friend or two who know how to play and can come over and do so. PvP (player versus player) is where it's at in games like these.

And....the Virtua Fighter games may be really dry and technical if you are coming over from playing something like Tekken. You have *two* attack buttons in total basically, everything else is from hitting combinations of Punch, Kick and Guard (think block button) and the directions, but mainly diagonals. They are popular in Japan where people appreciate a game that demands some skill to play, but not so popular in the United States where people rather expect to be able to scrub buttons and play.

Some things you have to remember about Virtua Fighter games in general:

--Don't jump. Really, if you hold *up* on your controller and do that big honking leap, you will be a big honking *target* 90% of the time.

--Get used to the idea, with some characters, of hit-and-run tactics....dash in, hit, dash right back out. It sounds lame and cheesy, but it works really well for some characters, especially against other people.

--For most characters:
--Punch & Guard, together, does a simple throw,
--Kick & Guard will *usually* do some manner of leg sweep, but not always,
--Punch & Kick, together, either will do a Power Hit with some characters, or an attack reversal, and
--Hitting all three major buttons together at once, with a direction, will either cause a character to change into another fight stance, or cause a character to do a *Big* Throw for some serious damage.

--In Virtua Fighter 5, I hear the easiest characters to start with are Lau Chan and Eileen....their moves are the least demanding to start with, but may end up being too predictable for long term use.

And remember.....this isn't one of those games where the point is to "beat the computer". Anyone can beat the computer on any setting with some time and patience.

The point of any Virtua Fighter game is the Versus Play.....and exploring the moves. Each character has a complete and individual fighting style, with anywhere from 80-120 different moves apiece. Granted, some of these moves are just combo-extensions of the simpler moves, but many are not. And some characters in Virtua Fighter are harder to master than whole *sets* of characters in some fighting games.

So yeah....you do have to have a bit of a different mindset in order to really get your money's worth out of a Virtua Fighter game.

Hope this helps, and thanks for your time. ^_^

Virtua Fighter is worth it if you want to put in the time to master it. It's (IIRC) a bit less combo-oriented than Tekken, and some consider it a little harder for beginners to pick up. I found it extremely rewarding of my time once I got the hang of it (I spent HOURS upon HOURS on Virtua Fighter 2 trying to master Akira).

You might want to pick up a Hori arcade stick (one of the first for PS3) to use with it, since it's designed for arcade play. I found the game much more enjoyable with a good arcade stick.

About the only knock I can think of for VF5 is that it doesn't have online play, but the Kumite mode seems to have enough colorful characters that it ALMOST makes up for it.

If you do pick it up, there are quite a few characters you can use that are designed for beginners.
