i am trying to install XP pro, but it says that i cant install it because i dont have a hard disk... what do i do??? i have a backup drive if that is what they mean... i can plug that in and see if it works. Any ideas on what i should do?

This website will give you instructions and screen shots of what you will see during an install of XP Pro on an old (previously used) hard drive. It also has a link if the hard disk can't be found.

If it says that there is no hard disk then you either do not have your hard drive plugged in properly, or the drive is bad.

Try going into the BIOS and seeing if it detects any hard drives that you have installed on the machine.

You need an actual internal hard drive to install windows on.

Hi,
use F-Disk to reformat (clear) your main drive first, use option 1 on each main menu.
