I have two red eared sliders and i checked on them last night and only one of them ate.. the other one is floating with its head and legs out.. I thought it was dead so i held it underwater and after about 2 minutes he tried swimming to the top and when he did he started floating again.

You need to make sure you have them in the correct enviornment. First of all, 2 red eared sliders will get very large, and will eventually require a 75-150 gallon aquarium, if you do not already have one.

The water temperature needs to be kept between 77 and 80 degrees - you can get an under gravel water heater to help you with this. You should also have a heat lamp hanging over the cage, in an area that the turtles have a place to bask, so they can bask under the heat lamp. There should also be a UVA/UVB light over the tank that you keep on 12 hours a day, and turn off the other 12 hours. Make sure the light has both UVA/UVB - some only have UVA.

As for the diet, you need to find a good aquatic turtle pellet to feed at least every other day. You need to provide them a varied diet as well - offer guppy fish, feeder shrimp, blood worms, etc, and occasionally fresh dark leafy greens or small pieces of veggies.

Making husbandry changes will likely make a big difference in the way your turtles behave, and keep them healthier. If providing these conditions does not work, take them to the vet.

If turtles get too cold, they will stop eating and die. I used to have some red-eared sliders and I had to put a water heater in the tank so that they wouldn't get too cold. Once they reach a certain coldness, they kind of go into hibernation until they die :( Go to a pet store, they will have everything you need. Good luck.

There are many possibilities. How old/how big are they? What is the habitat like? hat is their diet?

In a smaller tank with cool temps and poor lighting, often only the stronger turtle will do OK... but it may easily start acting funny if there are problems with the cares.
